Our thoughts go out to the family of Cécile Black, owner of Den Franske Bogcafe (the French book café) http://www.denfranskebogcafe.dk/dk/index.htm.
Cécile Black suddenly and tragically passed away last week at the age of 35 leaving behind her husband and 2 young children.
I contacted Cécile almost 4 years ago, when I was considering opening Books & Co. We met several times as she generously shared with me her experiences and tips for what I should and in particular should not do – several of which I remember and live by to this day.
The loss of Cécile Black will be deeply felt among all who enjoyed and appreciated the atmosphere she created and the work she did to bring French literature to this country. Her café felt like a little slice of France in the very heart of Copenhagen – an oasis where you could so easily while away the hours surrounded by beautiful and classically white French books, sipping a café au lait and just listening to that most beautiful of languages.
Cécile Black will indeed be missed.
