Join us for an evening of literary exploration and cultural insight as we welcome author Lola Ákínmádé Åkerström to discuss her second novel, "Everything is not Enough", which delves into the lives of three Black women navigating personal struggles in egalitarian Sweden. Lola will be joined by entrepreneur Barbara Mensah for a nuanced exploration of cultural dynamics and self-expression.

About the Speakers

Nigerian-American and based in Sweden, Lọlá Ákínmádé Åkerström is a renowned author, speaker, and photographer, with her work featured in prestigious publications such as National Geographic, BBC, CNN, and The Guardian. Her writing spans across various genres, from travel to fiction, including the award-winning book "Due North" and the bestselling "LAGOM: Swedish Secret of Living Well," translated into 18 languages. Her debut novel, "In Every Mirror She’s Black," has garnered international acclaim.

Originally from London, Barbara Mensah relocated to Copenhagen in 2017, where she established her career as the owner of Barbara Mensah Beauty Studio. With 12 years of experience as a professional international makeup artist and 4 years as a lash stylist, Barbara has honed her skills across various locations worldwide, including Denmark, London, Italy, Spain, and more. Three years ago, driven by her entrepreneurial spirit, Barbara ventured into a new project, launching her own brand of Shea Butter sourced directly from Ghana. Additionally, she serves as the beauty editor for Denmark's leading English-language news source, The Copenhagen Post.
